Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information SASMiNT collects through sasm.co.za, why we collect it, and what your rights are. We handle personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

1. Who is responsible for your information

SASMiNT (Pty) Ltd is the responsible party. Address: Cape Town. Our Information Officer is Douglas Warren. You can reach us at ina@sasmint.co.za or 08611-22786.

2. What we collect, and why

  • When you place an order: your name, company name and VAT number (if you give them), email address, telephone number, delivery and billing address, and what you ordered. We need this to process, deliver and invoice your order and to contact you about it.
  • When you pay: payment is handled by Payfast. We receive confirmation that you paid, but we never see or store your card details.
  • When you book a workshop or webinar: the names and email addresses of the delegates, so that we can send joining details and material.
  • When you contact us: the details you give in our enquiry form, by email, by telephone or on WhatsApp, so that we can answer you.
  • When you browse the site: limited technical information such as your browser type, the pages you view and an approximate location, collected through cookies and visitor statistics. This helps us keep the site working and improve it.

3. Cookies and visitor statistics

The site uses cookies that are necessary for it to work, for example to remember what is in your cart and to keep you logged in. We also use visitor statistics (Google Analytics and Burst Statistics) to see, in general terms, how the site is used, such as which pages are visited most. You can block or delete cookies at any time in your browser settings. If you block all cookies, parts of the shop, such as the cart, may not work.

4. Marketing messages

We send marketing emails only where the law allows, for example to existing customers about similar products, or where you have asked to hear from us. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us at any time to stop.

5. Who we share your information with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run the business, and only as far as they need it:

  • Payfast, to process your payment;
  • courier companies, to deliver printed products;
  • our website hosting and email providers, who store data on our behalf;
  • Google, for visitor statistics;
  • WhatsApp, if you choose to message us there.

Some of these providers may store or process information outside South Africa. Where that happens, we rely on providers that protect personal information to a standard similar to POPIA. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

6. How long we keep it

We keep order and invoice records for 5 years, as tax and company law require. Enquiries are kept for 2 years after our last contact with you. After that, the information is deleted or made anonymous.

7. How we protect it

The site uses encryption (https) for all pages, access to order information is limited to the staff who need it, and payments are processed on Payfast’s secure systems. No system is completely secure, but if a breach affecting your information occurs, we will tell you and the Information Regulator as the law requires.

8. Your rights

Under POPIA you may:

  • ask what personal information we hold about you and request a copy;
  • ask us to correct or update it;
  • ask us to delete it, where we no longer have a lawful reason to keep it;
  • object to our using it, and withdraw consent you gave earlier;
  • stop marketing messages at any time.

To use any of these rights, email ina@sasmint.co.za. We may need to confirm your identity first. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa) at inforegulator.org.za.

9. Children

Our products and services are intended for businesses and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always the one published on this page.
